Young One Ade Edmondson coming to town
TV COMIC turned musician Adrian Edmondson is coming to Harborough with his band to play a gig.
Edmondson, famous for turns in Bottom, The Young Ones and the Comic Strip Presents series, will be playing at Harborough Leisure Centre with the Bad Shepherds later this year.
Singer-songwriter Ella Edmondson, Adrian's daughter with his wife Jennifer Saunders, will also be appearing at the gig, on Saturday, October 2.
The concert has been organised by Harborough concert promoter Dave Allen, of Nelson Street, who said: "The band play songs by the likes of The Clash, The Ramones, Thin Lizzy, The Stranglers, The Specials and Kraftwerk. So really quite diverse.
"The twist is every song has been re-arranged and is performed on traditional instruments such as the fiddle, Irish pipes and the mandolin. The result is just astonishing and really high energy. As you'd expect from the likes of Ade Edmondson."
Though best known for his comic turns, Edmondson is no stranger to the music world.
Prior to The Bad Shepherds, he played the Monsters of Rock and Reading Festivals with Bad News, the Hootenanny with Jools Holland, Hyde Park with The Who, and toured with The Bonzo Dog Doo-dah Band.
Edmondson also famously enjoyed chart success with Cliff Richard and the rest of the cast of The Young Ones with the No 1 hit single Living Doll in 1986.
Formed in 2008, The Bad Shepherds – which also features Troy Donockley and Andy Dinan – have played at folk venues across the country.
Edmondson provides vocals and plays 'thrash mandolin' for the band. Tickets cost 15 and are available on 01858 446662.
