Andrew Granger & Co in Harborough is proud of the wide range of property services it offers, the agency says in this week’s Agent News spotlight.
At first glance, it can seem the firm has little to do with its other disciplines: lettings, commercial property, agricultural and rural management, surveying and valuation and planning and development.
But they often work in unison to help in the sale and purchase of homes.
The company’s roots lie in the management of the agricultural land that surrounds Market Harborough and across the East Midlands.
Ever since it was formed, Andrew Granger & Co has been able to help its farming clients make smart decisions about the management of their land as well as the farm buildings and houses located on it. Diversification and innovation has been the key.
Peter Buckingham, estate agency partner for the High Street-based Harborough office, explains more.
At an event held earlier this month for potential and existing investors, the firm succeeded in attracting those who were looking to buy-to-let and those who are letting and wanted to understand the implications of becoming a property owner.
There were also those who, for a variety of reasons, found themselves needing to let out a property.
They were able to get a broader view of the property market and understand their options.
Mr Buckingham said: “It was great to be able to give people choices, together with advice from reputable local professionals to make an informed decision as to where and how to invest their wealth.”
Another area of collaboration for the company is on surveys.
Purchasing a property can be a daunting and complex process and it is reassuring to seek advice from a property professional prior to committing to one of the biggest investments most people make in their lives.
Andrew Granger & Co offers a variety of survey choices, including RICS Homebuyers Reports, building surveys and insurance valuations. As the commercial market makes steady progress during the economic recovery, Andrew Granger & Co also deal in the sale, rental and acquisition of a wide variety of commercial property, including retail, offices, industrial and leisure.
Mr Buckingham said: “Our commercial department has gone from strength to strength in recent years, and we pride ourselves in offering advice in this sector of the market.”
An increasing number of its clients want to discuss the development potential for their property, he added.
It might be that they are unsure whether to sell or to extend.
For those with large gardens, it can be that they want to understand the implications of selling-off their house but retaining some land on which to build their new home.
The planning system sometimes seems complicated but a successful planning application can dramatically alter the value of property or the success of a business.
“Not only are no two houses the same, but no two property owners are the same either”, Mr Buckingham says.
“If people are unsure about their next best move in the property market, we would encourage them to come and talk to us.
“We can give clear, expert advice to help them understand their options and make a considered, well-informed decision.”
