Racing boat driver Brian Timson, of Great Bowden, was signed by the Bolinder Company to drive for it on national and international circuits, the Mail reported 39 years ago this week.

Mr Timson, who was the proprietor of Bowden Resprays, would be driving a Volvo Penta-powered boat for the upcoming season.

The Volvo-Blue racing boat was a Bristol Monohull specialist type of vessel.

The article appeared in the Mail on Thursday, May 15, 1975, and at the time of publication his past successes included winning the British NE Class for three years in a row and winning the Irish Championship, NE Class.
