Students from Harborough’s Brooke House College were awarded the Best Promotional Idea prize in a sandwich designing competition run by Subway.
The team, made up of Naun Kug, Doan Thuong Thuong Nguyen and Steve Sarlee, impressed during a ‘Dragon’s Den’-style pitch after designing their own logo, promotional flyer and poster for their ‘Hearty Sub’ idea. Their success in the final won them £250 of Amazon vouchers.
Gurpal Showker of Subway, who chaired the judging panel, said: “In order to launch a new product in this day and age it must be backed up by a solid promotional plan, incorporating new and innovative ways to connect with audiences.
“To make something stand out from the crowd and the ability to educate your relevant audience on a new topic is key to success in business nowadays and we felt that the students from Brooke House College gave an excellent pitch for their product and demonstrated real creativity with their promotional ideas.
David Storey, Business Studies teacher at Brooke House College, said: “The students really enjoyed brainstorming and developing their idea. This achievement really demonstrates their innovative way of thinking and approach to business.”
The overall competition was won by Moreton Hall School from Oswestry, Shropshire for their ‘Jack of All Flavours’ sandwich, which will be launched in February at Subway stores around the region.
