Firefighters were called out to deal with a chimney fire in the Harborough district on Boxing Day.

Two fire crews from Billesdon attended Main Street in Illston-on-the-Hill at 8.07am on Thursday.

They extinguished the fire using a chimney kit and needed to use two breathing apparatus, according to the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service daily report log.

A Lutterworth fire crew had been called out on Christmas Day to put out a chimney fire in South Kilworth.

Meanwhile, firefighters from Kibworth were called to a street in Fleckney on Christmas Eve to fix an unsafe aerial.

The crew attended Orchard Street in the village at about 11.30am after a resident spotted the aerial hanging over a footpath, presumably blown there in the high winds.

The firefighters made it safe, said the report log.
