Firefighters from Harborough were called to a town park after a pile of rubbish was set alight.
A fire crew from the town’s station attended Little Bowden Recreation Ground off Northampton Road in Harborough at 8.53am on Friday
The cause of the small fire was ‘deliberate ignition’ according to the Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service daily report log, which in their parlance means the fire was set alight on purpose.
Firefighters used a water back pack to put out the flames.
It is the third time over recent months that crews have been called to the same park with previous incidents also being classified as ‘deliberate ignition’ although in one case it was a barbecue not being disposed of properly.
Back in June, arsonists struck at the recreation ground’s allotments and considerable damage was caused to various plots.
Meanwhile, town firefighters were put on alert on Saturday at about 5pm after petrol was seen leaking from a car at the Bramfield Home Park caravan site on the A4303 between Lubenham and Theddingworth.
In the end, the leak was dealt with and stopped before any action was needed from the fire service.
