Firefighters were called out to a car fire and a crash in the Harborough district over the weekend.

A fire crew from Harborough attended the A6 between Welham Lane in Great Bowden and Rockingham Road in Harborough at just after midday on Saturday after reports of a car fire.

Firefighters used two hose reels and two breathing apparatus to put out the flames.

The cause of the fire in the engine compartment was unknown, said the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service daily report log.

Meanwhile, three fire crews from Lutterworth and one from Rugby were called to the scene of a car crash in Lutterworth Road, Walcote, at about 8.30am yesterday (Sunday).

They found a car in a ditch and a person semi-conscious inside the vehicle, said the daily report log.

There were no other vehicles involved in the crash. Firefighters helped free the trapped person who was then taken to Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry by ambulance.
