Firefighters from Harborough were called to assist the RSPCA yesterday (Sunday) after a cat was hit by a vehicle in town.
A fire crew from the town’s station attended Rockingham Road at about 3.45pm after the cat was injured, according to the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service daily report log.
After the cat was hit, the wounded animal got onto the grounds of Meadowdale School, off Rockingham Road, and firefighters helped gain access to the grounds so the RSPCA could help the cat.
The RSPCA press officer for the East Midlands was unavailable for comment today to give an update on the incident.
A fire control room operator told the Mail that the cat got onto the school’s grounds but was not actually inside the school premises itself.
Meanwhile, a fire crew from Kibworth station attended Main Street in Kibworth Harcourt on Friday morning after a car caught fire.
Firefighters were called at 8.38am and they used one hose reel to put out the flames.
The cause of the blaze was an electrical fault, according to the daily report log, and it caused 10 per cent damage to the interior of the vehicle.
