Free hedgerow and tree planting kits are to be made available for landowners across the Harborough area as part of a county scheme.
The Leicester based Stepping Stones Project and the Woodland Trust have teamed up and are encouraging farmers and community groups to provide much-needed habitats for wildlife by planting hedges and hedgerow trees.
Since its founding in 1972, the Woodland Trust has sought to create, protect and inspire everyone to enjoy and value woodland.
The conservation charity currently has more than 1,000 sites, covering about 50,000 acres across the UK and seek to add to Leicester’s “patchwork quilt” of hedgerows by introducing the scheme.
Applicants can apply for packs containing 100 metres of native hedging and 25 trees for planting on publicly accessible land or land which is visible from a public right of way or highway.
