Frances Quinn, who won the Great British Bake Off last night, has been sent a letter of congratulations by Harborough MP Sir Edward Garnier.
In the letter, Sir Edward said: “Many, many congratulations on your great victory in last night’s Great British Bake Off.
“For those of us from Harborough who have been following the competition over the last few weeks it has been a nail biting experience waiting to see whether you would go through to the next round but you always seemed to be pretty calm about the whole thing and just got on with the job.
“You faced some extremely talented competitors and all of you had to cope with rigorous criticism from the judges in the context of a hugely popular and much watched television programme.
“Of course you have known the result for some months so you have another talent; and one that should get you recruited into the Secret Services, namely, an ability to keep quiet about something you must have wanted to shout from the roof tops.
“I do hope that you enjoyed what must at times have been a pretty wearing experience and that, whether you decide to develop a career as a writer or television presenter as well as your current work in the clothing industry at Joules, you enjoy huge success and personal satisfaction.
“You certainly deserve it and I wish you all good fortune in the future.”
