People in the Harborough area are being asked to have their say on urgent care in the area.
The NHS East Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Group (ELR CCG), whoch looks after the Harborough area, is reviewing the cover and is holding a series of events to gain people’s views.
Urgent care is for people who need medical help or advice very quickly, but it is not life threatening or an emergency.
It is available in urgent care centres, minor injury and illness units and GP surgeries.
The minory injuries unit is currently open at Harborough District Hospital, in Coventry Road, 9am to 9pm, seven days a week.
Tim Sacks, chief operating officer at ELR CCG, said: “People have already given us many comments on how to improve these services, and their views have helped shape our approach so far. But now the scope of our review is wider.
“We will be responsible for all our local urgent care in our region from April 2015, which now includes Oadby and Wigston Walk-in Medical Centre, which was not part of our original plans. We now want to ensure we fully understand what people think may need to change.
“The purpose of our review is not to close services. We are looking at how to make best use of services across our whole area.”
Events in Harborough district organised by the ELR CCG are as follows:
* Tuesday January 14, Cromwell Suite, The Three Swans Hotel, 21 High Street, Market Harborough, LE16 7NJ
* Thursday January 17, Wycliffe Rooms, 27 George St, Lutterworth, LE17 4DY
Noth events take place from 6pm to 8pm.
People can take part in the consultation by filling in a short questionnaire available on the ELR CCG website
Mr Sacks added: “We want to bring care closer to home for residents – developing services that are good quality and appropriate for our patients but which also free up our hospitals for those people needing urgent and specialist care.
“We are confident that these plans will help to improve health services across East Leicestershire and Rutland but we do want the support and views of our residents before moving this forward. If you haven’t already completed our questionnaire then please do visit our website or come along to one of the events in January.”
