More than 500 people attended an open day at a family-run farm in the district on Sunday.

The Rees family opened the gates to their Gaulby Lodge Farm in Kings Norton.

People took the chance to see demonstrations of cows being milked, silage being made, and sheep being sheared.

Silage is type of fermented food, fed to cud-chewing animals such as cows and sheep.

There were also tractor and trailer rides for children and a large sand pit for youngsters to play in. The Smeeton Westerby-based Bridge 67 cookery school helped with refreshments all day and the event, held as part of the national Open Farm Sunday campaign, raised more than £300 for the Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.
