A Market Harborough man has appeared in court charged with wounding a woman with a Stanley knife in a hospital car park.

Steve Argo, of Huntingdon Gardens, has been charged with a series of offences in connection with two robberies in Kettering General Hospital’s car park.

The 37-year-old Harborough man was arrested on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 1, in connection with the attacks which took place on Wednesday and Thursday the previous week.

Argo appeared at Northampton Magistrates Court last Thursday.

He is facing two charges of robbery as well as possession of a bladed weapon and grevious bodily harm.

He is alleged to have wounded a woman with a Stanley knife in the hospital car park, off Rothwell Road in the town, on Thursday, March 27.

Argo is alleged to have carried out two robberies on Wednesday, March 26, stealing money from two different victims.

During the brief court hearing he was remanded into custody and the hearing was adjourned to Northampton Crown Court for next Friday, April 18.

Kettering General Hospital bosses last week urged its staff to be vigilant.

Det Insp Alistair Reynolds, of Northamptonshire Police, said last week that patrols at the hospital car park had been doubled up in response to the incidents.
