Commonwealth gold medal winner Ross Davenport will be the special guest at this year’s Mail Sports Awards, it was confirmed this week.
The Derbyshire swimmer won two gold medals at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne for the 200m freestyle and the 4×200m freestyle relay.
Davenport also qualified for Team GB at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The 12th annual sports awards are taking place at Harborough’s Three Swans Hotel on November 21.
Nominations are being accepted now and will close on Friday, November 1.
The district’s sporting scene is a hive of activity, presenting great scope to put someone forward for one of the nine categories.
The event, which is sponsored by Market Harborough Building Society, is our way of acknowledging the people who deserve an accolade for the tremendous effort they put into their sport – or sports.
And it’s not just the players.
We know there are many people behind the scenes who make sport possible every weekend. More details are available on our Sports Awards microsite.
