Proposals to build eight new homes outside Medbourne have been thrown out.
The application for land owned by Medbourne Parish Council’s chairman Paul Polito went before Harborough District Council’s planning committee last Tuesday.
It was refused on the grounds it would impact on the character and appearance of the village and conservation area. The application also failed to demonstrate it would not affect buried archaeological remains – it is believed a Roman river crossing is on the site.
The Save Medbourne Group has been campaigning for the site to be protected.
