A chef from Husbands Bosworth who once cooked for celebrities and Formula 1 drivers is vying for pole position with her new sandwich bar venture.
Lindsey Cullum, who has previously travelled the world with three F1 teams, is now the proud owner of The Catering Corner, based in her village’s High Street.
The 35-year-old’s café has been doing a speedy trade since opening last month, selling a selection of hand-made sandwiches, paninis, salads, cakes and candy floss-flavoured ice cream.
The mum-of-two, a former head chef at Shearsby Bath in the district, said: “Formula 1 was amazing and rubbing shoulders with all those celebrities was an experience, some of them were real characters but Kylie Minogue was definitely the nicest.
“Opening my own business has always been a dream, so when this place came up I grabbed the opportunity.
“I have lived in the village for 14 years and have often thought that there’s a demand for a sandwich bar – there’s nothing like this between Harborough and Lutterworth.”
North Kilworth residents Maggie Morgan (71) and her husband Peter (72) are among the new customers.
Maggie said: “I think something like this is long overdue. It’s good to see the village community being brought together.”
The business also offers outside catering for birthdays, weddings and parties.
It is open between 7.30am-4pm on weekdays and from 9am-2pm on Saturdays.
