New boundary signs welcoming motorists to the district are being installed.

The signs, featuring the district logo, are being placed at 17 entrance points across the area. Agreement to introduce the signs was made by councillors last year. It is hoped the signs will link with new tourism signs being placed in the district.

Council leader Blake Pain said: “These signs are a welcome and attractive addition as not only do they highlight our boundaries, they also raise the profile of the district, particularly as motorists or cyclists pass through.”

The cost is about £10,000 including design, manufacture and installation. The council is awaiting the final total from the county council’s highways department. The signs will be at: the A426 at Dunton Basset, the B581 /B4114 junction at Broughton Astley, A4304 Magna Park, A426 Gibbet Hill in Lutterworth, A5199 Welford, A508 south of Harborough, Clack Hill in Harborough, A4304 east of Harborough, the A6 north of the district, B664 at Medbourne, at Great Easton/Caldecott, B664 at Uppingham, A47 at East Norton, the B6047 atTwyford, A47 at Thurnby, the A6 at Great Glen and the A5199 at Arnesby.
