It’s time to put on your dancing shoes, even if you think you can’t dance, because Harborough is about to get in the mood for Strictly.
FitSteps is a new dance craze inspired by the BBC’s successful TV show Strictly Come Dancing.
The show’s dance stars from the 2009 series Natalie Lowe and Ian Waite have teamed up with six-times world swimming champion Mark Foster and a group of health and fitness professionals to produce a new dance and fitness programme called FitSteps.
It combines the graceful steps of ballroom and up-tempo beats of the Latin dances for a workout that aims to be a really fun and energetic way to stay fit and trim.
The FitSteps programme is being brought to Harborough by town woman Tracey Gardner, who is already well-known in the area for teaching Zumba, pilates and for her boot camp sessions.
Tracey, who has trained with Natalie and Ian (pictured, inset), said: “For anyone who’s thinking, ‘but I can’t dance’, there’s no excuse – you don’t have to able to dance. You just have to want to get fit and have fun.”
She is a very experienced dance tutor who has taught hundreds of people in the area for 20 years and is one of the first people in the UK to be an accredited FitSteps instructor.
Taster sessions are being held at Harborough’s Welland Park College from 7.30pm to 8.15pm this Monday and at the same venue from 7.15 to 8pm on Wednesday, August 21.
The taster sessions cost £3, with a normal price of £4.50.
