The traditional curtain-raiser to the Harborough Carnival is taking place again this year – the Carnival Quiz.

Trivia enthusiasts and pub quiz fans are being urged to get their thinking caps on to put together a winning team capable of taking home the coveted victory shield.

The quiz night is taking place at The Angel Hotel in High Street, Harborough, on the eve of the carnival – Friday, June 13, at 7.30pm.

Alan Savill, who won a Pride in Harborough Award in April for Fundraiser of the Year after setting up the Ian’s Chain charity, has kindly offered to be the quizmaster again after a successful stint for the first time last year.

Last year’s champions were the six-person Clueless team, in what was the group’s fifth time of winning.

They successfully negotiated the rapid-fire general knowledge questions and took the crown by five points in a keenly-fought contest.

The runners-up were Mardi Gras Masterminds and third-place went to the 2012 winners Dawn Kelly and the Ginn Monkeys.

Teams of up to six people are allowed this year and it costs £5 per team to enter.

Each team must also bring a long a prize for the raffle, which is drawn at the end of the night.

Proceeds from the night will go to the overall carnival fund pot, which is distributed to local deserving causes later in the year.

To register in advance for the quiz, call 07796 225 139 or email tracy.campe@gmail.com.
