A cycling trio from Harborough are embarking on a charity challenge to Brighton.

2TH Dental’s therapist Steph Cullum, its principal dentist Ed Moncrief and Ed’s 17-year-old daughter Daisy are organising the 150-mile, two-day ride from the practice in Northampton Road to Brighton in aid of a melanoma charity.

Ed’s sister Vicky died of melanoma in Brighton in 2006 and the ride will end at a bench on Brighton seafront which has a plaque to remember her.

They will set off on August 23 in aid of the Myfanwy Townsend Melanoma Research Fund.

Money raised is used by the charity to raise awareness of melanoma, educate, encourage early diagnosis and fund practical research.

Town businesses Duncan Murray Wines, Hobbs Fishmongers and Simply Simon’s are among the sponsors helping the trio towards their target of £1,000.

Mr Moncrief said: “We are all training hard and looking forward to the challenge. It is a cause close to my heart, and I hope we can help to raise awareness of staying safe in the sun and avoiding sunburn. To arrive at my sister’s bench will be a moving ending to our ride.”
