Sam Bailey put on a duo of dazzling performances in the quarter-finals of the X Factor, leaving one of the show’s four judges in tears.
The Gartree Prison officer is now through to the semi-finals of the ITV talent competition.
Previous winners have gone on to huge success and Sam is the clear favourite to take the X Factor crown this year.
During Saturday’s quarter-final, Sam first performed Whitney Houston’s 1985 hit How Will I Know, showing to the audience and judges that she can not only sing, but move too.
Although judge Nicole Sherzinger said that Sam’s rendition of the hit was a “little cruise ship”, the rest of the judging panel were singing her praises.
Gary Barlow said: “Well done Sam. Well done.
“I always had you pencilled down as the big ballad singer, but brilliant job, you approached it like a proper singer, lots of light and shade,
“Another stunning performance.”
Louis Walsh added: “You make it look so easy, that’s your talent.
“It’s effortless every single week. There is a space in the UK market for a girl like you.
Scherzinger said: “This was the first song I recorded, you just sang the heck out of it.
“You did it justice, but I feel the production felt a little like a cruise ship version.
“I loved the choreography but it felt that way.”
Sharon Osbourne, who is Sam’s mentor, reacted to the comment by telling Nicole that the cruise ship she saw her on was called the O2.
With the second performance of the night Sam reduced Scherzinger to tears with her rendition of Emeli Sandé’s Clown.
Scherzinger described the performance in one word, “astounding”.
Barlow added: “An hour ago you had us all dancing, now you had us all crying.
“It’s absolutely beautiful. I’m astounded. You are a superb singer, well done.”
Before her performance Sam described how she was missing the routine of her family life and said how hectic life was as an X Factor contestant.
In the results show on Sunday night Tamera Foster lost out in the sing-off with Luke Friend.
She was voted off after Barlow decided to put the final vote in the hands of the public and the act with the lowest amount of votes was revealed to be Tamera.
The semi-final format this weekend will see the final four contestants take on songs by Elton John and Beyonce.
Each contestant will perform two songs in a bid to win a place on stage at The X Factor final.
The final weekend is on Saturday December 14 and Sunday, December 15, and will feature live performances from The Killers, Tom Odell, Sir Elton John, One Direction and Katy Perry.
