Editor Neil Pickford addresses two subjects in his column this week.

Good luck Sam from all of Harborough.

Sam Bailey may be the hottest favourite to have ever taken part in the X Factor final, but that does not mean she does not need, and deserve, our support this weekend.

On Saturday and Sunday the former Gartree Prison officer will line up against two other hopefuls in the competition, and as the judges have said, it’s hers to lose.

Watching Sam’s metamorphosis from undoubtedly talented singer into the clear favourite for the show under the guidance of mentor Sharon Osbourne has been fascinating.

Regardless of the result this weekend, Sam clearly has a fantastic career ahead of her, which surely nobody will begrudge her. And for those of us no longer in the first flush of youth, there is something rather special about seeing someone get their big chance, and grabbing it with both hands, later on in life.

Everyone at the Mail wishes her well and every success this weekend, and beyond.

Late Night Shopping Success.

Anyone who attended the Late Night Shopping event in Market Harborough cannot have failed to have been impressed by the amount of attractions, and the huge number of people who came into the town to sample what it has to offer.

This was Harborough at its finest and the event is a credit to
everyone involved in organising or taking part in it.
