The Harborough Mail is today giving its full support to the efforts to bring an international rugby side to Market Harborough during the next Rugby World Cup.
As reported in this week’s Mail, the town has been shortlisted as a potential host for one of the sides competing in the tournament due to be staged on home soil in September 2015.

And with matches due to be staged in Leicester during the tournament, Market Harborough is perfectly placed to offer one of the competing nations a base for the event.
Those behind the joint bid submitted by Harborough District Council and Market Harborough Rugby Club should be congratulated on their forethought and recognising the huge benefits that being a training venue would bring.
It is this kind of work that the town needs to do to make sure that people are aware of what we have to offer.
We all know that Market Harborough and the surrounding area have so much to offer.
As Cllr Blake Pain, leader of Harborough District Council, says to host an international team for the duration of the 2015 World Cup would be fantastic for the district and the town.
So, let’s get behind the bid and offer any support or help that is needed to ensure we get the kudos, publicity and economic benefits that hosting one of the competing teams would bring.
It would inspire a generation of young rugby players and give a major boost to the town.
