Leicestershire Police said his death is being treated as 'unexplained'

Police have launched an investigation after a man was found dead in a Harborough village yesterday (Tuesday).

The alarm was raised after the man’s body was found near the River Sence in Bridgewater Drive, Great Glen, yesterday afternoon.

Officers arrived to the spot close by the river just before 2.30pm along with ambulance crews and paramedics.

The man, who has not been named, was declared dead at the scene.

Leicestershire Police said that officers are now investigating his death – which is being treated as “unexplained”.

A police spokeswoman said: “Shortly before 2.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 20 April) we received a report that the body of a man had been found close to the river in Bridgewater Drive in Great Glen.

“Officers attended, along with colleagues from the East Midlands Ambulance Service, who pronounced the man dead at the scene.

“The man's death is being treated as unexplained at this time and enquiries are continuing.”
