The Mail has launched the Pride in Harborough Awards 2013 to thank our community’s many selfless heroes and heroines for the tremendous work they do.

Thanks to support from local businesses, we will be holding a presentation evening in April where the winners of our awards will be announced.

There are ten categories in which to nominate people: Young Achiever, Raising the Profile of the Town, Inspire a Generation, Fundraiser of the Year, Service with a Smile, Excellence in Education, Friendly Neighbour, Care in the Community, Outstanding Example of Bravery and Unsung Hero/Heroine.

Visit the Pride in Harborough 2013 website for more details.

The Kilworth Challenge team were winners last year in both the Fundraiser of the Year category as well as the top prize chosen by main sponsors the Market Harborough Building Society, which is supporting the event once again this year.

Nick Otter, of the Kilworth Challenge organising committee, told the Mail: “2012 was fantastic for the Kilworth Challenge, well and truly topped by winning two awards in the Pride in Harborough event.

“We never seek a lot of recognition for what we do and so it is really very pleasing when it comes out of the blue. It was a great evening and when we won the Fundraiser award we thought that was it. Winning ‘the best of the best’ was absolutely tremendous and a real surprise and honour for us.”

How to nominate:

Online at: The Pride in Harborough 2013 website

Or write to: Pride in Harborough 2013, Northants Newspapers Ltd, Newspaper House, Ise Park, Rothwell Road, Kettering, Northants, NN16 8GA.

Write in no more than 500 words about the person you are nominating and include their contact details.

A panel of judges will select the winners, who will receive their awards at a presentation evening on Friday, April 26, at the Three Swans Hotel in Harborough from 7pm to 10pm.
