Thieves attempting to strip lead from the roof of a Harborough village church seem to have fled after an alarm went off.

Only a small amount of lead was taken from the roof of All Saints Church, Lubenham.

The theft happened at around 1am on Sunday morning.

Church warden Sir Bruce MacPhail told the Mail: “It looks as if an alarm frightened them off. Only a small amount of lead has been stolen.”
