Sandbags have been issued to businesses in Harborough town centre after a severe weather warning of heavy rain in Harborough tomorrow (Saturday).
The Met Office is predicting heavy rain across Harborough between midday and 5pm.
Sanbags are outside many of the businesses in the town centre, keen to avoid a repeat of the damage suffered during last month’s flash flood.
The flood barrier in the Mail office has also been put up in preparation.
The warning states: “Outbreaks of rain affecting parts of England and northeast Wales during Saturday are likely to be heavy in places, with the risk of torrential thundery downpours, lightning and local accumulations in excess of 40mm within just a few hours.
“The highest probability of heavy rain is considered to be towards the east and southeast of England.
“The public should be aware of possible localised surface water flooding where this occurs, as well as some disruption in general to summer outdoor activities.”
