Drivers are being warned to take extra care on the roads after forecasts of heavy rain and winds this weekend.
Leicestershire County Council is asking motorists to allow extra time for journeys, not to drive through flood water and to heed any road closures.
In preparation for gusts and downpours, the council has made sure that extra crews are on standby to clear out road gullies and remove any branches or fallen trees.
The Met Office has predicted heavy rain and strong winds across much of the UK on Sunday evening and Monday morning.
Peter Osborne, Leicestershire County Council cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “With strong winds and large downpours likely, we’re urging people to heed the warning. We’ve made sure that extra crews are available and are encouraging drivers to take extra caution on the roads.”
