Year-9 pupil Jordan Waine from Thomas Estley school, Broughton Astley, has won the County cross-country league.

Cross-country runner Jordan Waine showed she is one to watch as she won the Year 8 title for the Midlands before going on to claim third in the national competition held in Sunderland recently.

The pupil at Broughton Astley’s Thomas Estley College had earlier in the season tied for first place with Lutterworth High School’s Caitlin Roper in the Junior Girls contest for Years 8-9 with both managing a first, second and third place.

Head of girls PE at the school Sarah Kavanagh said: “She is a definite name for the future, could we one day see her representing Great Britain at the Olympics?”
