BOWDEN Cricket Club held their annual dinner-dance and awards evening – complete with magician – at Market Harborough Golf Club.

More than 70 players, juniors, club members and friends supported a top evening for the club.

Awards for the 2011 season were handed out by the guest of honour, David Bailey, from Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Board.

He also proudly presented the club with their three-year re-accreditation of the English Cricket Board’s Clubmark Award.

Clubmark is awarded to pioneering clubs who have been developing a vibrant, safe and healthy environment for junior cricket development. And Bowden are one of only a handful of the clubs in the region to hold this prestigious accreditation.

Everyone seemed bamboozled by a local magician who provided the after-dinner entertainment.

Bowden CC’s ten-week indoor net sessions begin on Sunday, January 29, from 3 to 5pm at Welland Park Community College in Harborough.

The club are always looking for new players, of all abilities, and run two senior league sides on Saturdays and a senior friendly side on Sundays.

Potential new players are asked to contact either Sam Freer, 1st XI captain (07877 349109), or Fergus Kenny, second team captain (07896 969928).
