Cruel late blow denies Borough

FOOTBALL can be a cruel game as Borough Alliance development school found out to their cost in a 2-1 loss at Heath Hayes.

Once again they dominated most of the play but could not find their ruthless streak and punish their opponents.

Borough were instantly into their stride with some fine passing, particularly from Lewis Carpenter. But scoring chances came and went without a goal being scored – while Hayes took the lead with a wonderful strike from 30 yards.

In the second half Borough really took the game to Hayes with midfielders Alexis Alcindor and Kieran Burgess cutting through the defence at will. They got a deserved equaliser with ten minutes to go after a fine move by Tom Morris and Alcindor set up Carpenter for a tap-in.

Borough thought they had earned at least a point but still pushed forward for a winner. However in the final minute some poor marking from a long throw left a Hayes striker with a simple finish to win the match.
