Kwik-fire contrast for juniors' results

LUTTERWORTH under-10s' Kwik Cricket team played two games at the Meadows Sports Ground, Wigston, on Friday.

It was a session of contrasts for Lutterworth, losing to Wigston but notching a good win against Cosby.

Scores in the first game were: Lutterworth 207-6, Wigston 224-4; and in their second match: Lutterworth 238-2, Cosby 222-1.

Lutterworth were put into bat and got off to a good start against Wigston, with Luccas Lovatt lofting two sixes in the second over.

The team’s batting picked up in the fifth and sixth overs but Lutterworth lost three wickets in the last over. James Meakin managed a two-wicket maiden in the last over against Wigston but this wasn’t enough to pull back the deficit.

Cosby chose to bat first in Lutterworth’s second game and the bowling was much tighter, giving away fewer extras. While only one wicket was taken, Cosby were only able to hit 10 runs off the first six overs.

Lutterworth got off to another good start in reply, with Lucas getting three fours in the first two overs and despite an unfortunate run-out in the second over and a loss of wicket in the third, the team were able to cruise to a comfortable win.

George Finn and Tom Clift made their debuts. Finn made an impression by getting a wicket in each game. Clift did well with both bat and ball, hitting two fours against Cosby, getting a wicket against Wigston and bowling a maiden over against Cosby.
