THE classic Festival of 1000 Bikes – with GP heroes Kevin Schwantz and Randy Mamola already confirmed – headlines the 2012 Mallory Park calendar of events from July 6 to 8 when more than 20,000 spectators are expected to flock to the local circuit.

The Vintage Motorcycle Club that organises the Festival of 1000 Bikes continues to improve the rider and machine line-up every year and they have been working hard to make sure the 2012 event is the biggest and best yet.

Mallory Park’s own Race of the Year is scheduled for October 20 and 21 and a top line-up is expected with the best in club, national and international racers competing in the open class event as Superbikes go against Supersport and Superstock machines.

After a year’s break the popular Triumph Live event returns to Mallory on August 31 and September 1.

The first ever Triumph Live in 2010 was a huge success with nearly 20,000 fans of the Hinckley manufacturer visiting the circuit and taking part in a host of events.

Practical Performance Cars’ Party in the Park on May 19 is another treat for car-loving petrol heads.

Other highlights include the Motors TV Car Races, the six round Mallory Buildbase Trophy club racing Championships, British Rallycross Championship, Thundersport GB racing, The International Sidecar Festival, Vintage Sports Car Club, Auto 66 bike racing, Classic Sports Car Club racing, Historic Sportscar Racing and the annual Plum Pudding Handicap Races on Boxing Day.

Alongside all of this action is a packed schedule of track days for cars and bikes, cycle racing and training, motocross, corporate events and the opportunity to try out some of the hottest Supercars with the Racing School based at the circuit.

Mallory Park general manager John Ward said: “2012 promises to be an exciting and action-packed year at the circuit. We have some high-profile international events blended with the best in club racing and corporate hospitality all taking place.”
