Rugby tournament for town charities

ORGANISERS of a charity rugby sevens tournament are calling on people to turn out and show their support for the event.

The Sevens Tournament and Family Fun Day at Market Harborough Rugby Club on Sunday may 2has been organised to raise money for two worthy Harborough-based charities.

Proceeds from the day will be split between the Eva Winston-Hart Trust for research into leukaemia treatment, and the Adam'Smile campaign to build a safe cycle track between Harborough and Lubenham.

It will feature a cup competition with a cash prize of 500 and an under-19s Colts event with 250 to the winner.

As well as the rugby, it will feature a host of family entertainment, including bouncy castles and fun games as well as hot food, a licensed bar, and an evening disco.

There will also be a raffle with prizes inluding dinners and hotel stays, all donated by Harborough businesses.

Gates open for registration at 10.30am and the first match is due to kick-off at 11.30am, with finals expected to take place at about 4pm.

Adam Shepherd, social secretary at the rugby club, said: "With almost twenty teams already registered for the tournament and many others expected to register on the day, this year's MHRFC Sevens looks to be a very successful and action-packed event."

Teams must have RFU insurance.
