1sts and 2nds up for the cup

SENIOR players at Lutterworth Rugby Club will be chasing cup final spots at the double this weekend.

And both the 1st and 2nd XVs have home advantage for their respective semi-final clashes on Saturday afternoon.

The first team take on Stafford in the semi-finals of the Midland Intermediate Cup.

Meanwhile the 2nd XV entertain their Daventry counterparts in the last four of the Rugby and District Clonmell Cup.

Both Ashby Lane ties will kick off at 2pm.

All Lutterworth club matches last weekend – home and away – fell victim to the snow and ice.

The 1sts’ fixture at Bugbrooke will be rescheduled for later in the season.

The first team should still be on a high from their exciting 19-18 home league victory over Northamptonshire club Wellingborough in their last game.

Robin Eager’s kicking was spot-on to ensure Lutterworth kept their successful home record intact.

The 2nd XV went down 34-13 away to Hinckley in the Leicestershire League premier division in their last match.
