FOLLOWING excellent performances at county level, six of the Market Harborough Vixens Under-15s girls have been selected for the Midlands Divisional Squad.

Chloe Andrews, Ellie Batten, Leah Bartlett, Anna Chadburn, Ellen Machin and Alex Watson heard the good news after taking part in the divisional trials last month.

In the last few days, Vixens Coaches were delighted to hear that all six had successfully secured their places in the Midlands Divisional Squad.

Coach Daren Parker said: “To put this in perspective, England has four divisions for Under-15, Under-18 and Women’s rugby – North, Midlands, London & South East, and South West.

“With divisional squads of around 35 to 40 players, this effectively places the six Market Harborough Vixens into the top 150 players in England at U15 level!

“Last season, three of the current Vixens girls, Ellie Batten and Anna Chadburn plus Jules Leah (now playing in Vixens Under-18s) made it to the Divisional Squad, so doubling this to six girls this season is fantastic.

“It is a great achievement by any standards, and a real justification for all the hard work and effort put in by the Vixens coaches and players.”

Training started this week for the six girls with the first match, Midlands v North, to be played on Sunday.

The Vixens are a girls team formed in a cluster between Harborough and Melton. Market Harborough RFC Girls Section is continually looking for additional players aged from 11 to 17 to add to their existing teams. For further details phone Mr Parker on 07802 588803 or Yvonne Copson on 07752 390562.
