Oh so close as impressive team miss victory by single point

A STRONG Harborough A team narrowly missed out on victory by just a single point in the second round of the Leicester and District Winter League, despite winning a massive 24 out of the 49 events.

The men’s open team made a welcome return to form, inspired by club captain Harry Waddington, who led by example winning the 100M freestyle and then combined with Kevin James, Theo Brogan and George Bott to win both of their relays in fine fashion.

The ladies open team were once again unbeatable.

Kirsty Haynes, Charlotte Maxfield, Candice Hall and Olivia Weller won both relays with Haynes, Hall and Weller also winning their individual events.

In their own 15/u age group, Hall and Weller were joined by Lauren Murphy, Grace Bolton and Lauren Bekavac to not only take victory in their relays but also impressively in all four individual events.

The 15/u Boys saw Tom Tonge returning well from injury to win the 100M Breaststroke.

Victories were hard to come by in the younger 13/u age group with Charlie Poole and Grace Bolton both taking the honours in the 50M Freestyle.

The 11/u boys team of Josh Wellicome, Jay Newman, Rhys Cook and Charlie Poole were once again in superb form, smashing PBs for fun and winning both relays and all four individual events.

In a match where every point counted there were also some impressive PBs from Kieran Flint, Josh Bott, Henry Ingram and Cristina Hall.

1st Sharks C (248)

2nd Harborough A (247)

3rd Sharks D (169)

4th Kettering B (131)

5th Harborough B (121)
